Day 3 - Part 2 - The Great Wolf Lodge

This place is awesome! It's a great place for family days. Granted, we didn't have to wait in line behind more than 3 people, so I can't say if it's worth it during the busy season. The girls absolutely loved it. One of them, who shall remain nameless, said it was better than Disney! I wouldn't go that far, but you can pack a lot of fun in a few hours everyday. Both girls had their favorite rides. Kiley loved the tornado (which Ashlyn wouldn't get back on after the first time), and Ashlyn loved the blue slide (which Kiley would not get back on after the first time). They both tried everything though, even when they were afraid to, so we were proud of them. Definitely will keep an eye out for special days at the one near us!

Day 3 - The Real Jamestown

This was really cool! We only had a couple hours to spend here and could have spent the day. We really rushed through it since we had to be back the next day for CC and still wanted to play at the Lodge before hitting the road. They found the actual Jamestown in the 90's, although it wasn't confirmed until 2004. They have found the actual post holes from the fort, uncovered cellars from the houses, and discovered pottery from their day to day life. They were in the ground pulling up things as we were there. I would highly recommend the HISTORICAL Jamestown.

Jamestown - Day 2

We visited Jamestown on our second day. They have reconstructed the fort as journals indicated it really was. Thankfully, Craig knew they found the actual, historical Jamestown just about a mile away from this location and we visited there on Day 3, so stay tuned for that!

The girls couldn't wait to get back to the Great Wolf Lodge, but they enjoyed the time there.

Better Late than Never - Day 1 Williamsburg

With swim team and moving over the summer, no vacation happened this year, or so we thought. We were able to get a great deal on a Williamsburg vacation AND stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. It was awesome! The Great Wolf Lodge is a wonderful family fun place. We all loved it and could have stayed much longer, just at the hotel.

The girls really liked Williamsburg. They were able to wear their colonial dresses Mamaw made and were given lots of compliments on them. I think their favorite thing was to visit the old fashioned gift shops and spend their money!

VT vs. BAMA

Craig and Hamilton were able to travel to Atlanta for the VT / BAMA game. Looks like they had a great time!

LadyBug Girl

Ashlyn has always been our little ladybug. It's been our nickname for her since she was a baby. She even had a ladybug themed baby shower just a few weeks after she was born. Recently we discovered a book at Barnes and Noble called Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy. She loved it!

This girl in the story dresses up like a ladybug. Right up Ashlyn's alley! She has dress up on every day! Another thing Ashlyn loves is any craft. She's always painting or making something out of paper and glue. She came down one day after reading this book dressed in her own ladybug girl costume.

Fun Lake Weekend...

We had the opportunity to accompany the Morales' to their family's lake house over the weekend. We were all looking forward to it. Craig and I spent a lot of time on the lake with friends before moving to NC over 10 years ago, but this was one of only a handful of times since. We love the lake!

Unfortunately, Craig was sick the entire week leading up to the lake trip and stayed home. He ended up having an ear infection and respiratory infection. Poor guy!

We had a great time with our friends. The girls loved the lake. Kiley preferred to be riding ON the boat or swimming. She didn't like the bumpy and roughness of the water. Ashlyn LOVED it! We also got to know the Monstrola's. Desiree has celiac and has been on a gluten free diet for over 5 years, so the timing was great. She was able to give me lots of good information to help with Ashlyn's issues.
