Ashlyn's 5th Birthday

It's official, no more pre-schooler in our house. We had to change our plans for Ashlyn's birthday. We were planning a trip to VA to visit my parents, but my mom was sick. So we had an quick ChuckECheese party a few days later.

March 1st...SNOW!

We love this surprise here, since it rarely happens. Unfortunately for the girls, they really don't have any snow gear to keep them warm. Their knit gloves were soaked through within minutes and they could only withstand the cold for about 30 minutes before they could no longer feel their fingers. It was a fun 30 minutes though!

Presidents Day Field Trip

We went with some fellow CC'ers to the Charlotte History Museum. It was really great. There are so many places to visit in our area, I really need to get on the ball! They had exhibits on the White House and the Presidents. Since we are studying American History this year, it fit in nicely. Obviously, there were also exhibits on Charlotte's history. They also have the largest bell and ground level and the oldest house in Mecklenburg County.

Keepers

Kiley is participating in a Keepers group this year with her friends from church (Brittany, Amelia, Danielle, and Sarah). This week they were learning candy making, and loving it! What a great group of girls. They have memorized one passage of scripture and working on 23 Psalms as well. I'm glad she gets to see her friends since we don't live close enough to get together too often!

The Daddy / Daughter Ball

Kiley and Craig went to the daddy / daughter ball for the 2nd time this year. Kiley was so excited to have a night out with her daddy, corsage and all. They had a triple date with two of Kiley's friends and their dads. I only have pictures before, since I wasn't there, but afterwards they went to 131 Main and had a late dinner. Kiley said it was the best night of her life! Ashlyn and I had a date while they were gone and painted pottery at MegArt, something she's been wanting to do for over a year now.

Valentine's Day

The girls exchanged valentines in Classical Conversations this year. This was the first time they've participated in exchanging valentines. They loved decorating their boxes and giving valentines to their friends, and of course the candy that came with their valentines!

(I think it's funny how Ashlyn always closes her eyes when she smiles big, so I had to add that photo for memories one day!)

Snow in NC...

Short, but sweet. The girls were surprised to wake up and find snow outside their window. I heard Ashlyn first. They were quickly dressed and out the door. They only lasted out there about 20 minutes, since we only have knit gloves at our house. They enjoyed themselves and event tried to sneak a bag of snow by me to bring inside. They thought they'd save some for later, I suppose.

Kiley's 9th Birthday

I just can't believe she's nine! How did that happen? I love seeing her grow into a little lady. She is very precious to us and there are so many things we love about her. She is kind and gentle and a great big sister, just for starters. Check out last years post from Kiley's birthday for more about our wonderful little lady.

We didn't have a 'friend' party this year, we are planning to make a trip to San Antonio in the spring instead. She has missed her friend Laura and we've been hoping to go for....wow, has it been two years now? Anyway, it looks like things are finally falling in place for it to happen.

This year for her birthday she got some pink and brown chucks. She has been wanting these for a while now. She also got Narnia Radio Drama on CD. Ashlyn helped make cupcakes for our family birthday dinner. Her requested entree was lasagne, same thing she requested at two!
